My path to the voice

My own relationship with my voice has not grown in a straight line, but through detours, doubts and decisions that only revealed themselves as a path in hindsight.

I spent many years at various music universities and afterwards worked in professional musical contexts.

During that time I learned not only how to talk about the voice – but also how easily one’s own access to the voice can be lost. For many years I had a difficult relationship with my voice. I experienced how confusing and frustrating it can be to work with ideas and images that stay abstract and cannot be grasped – and how quickly tension, insecurity and a loss of trust in one’s own voice follow. I know vocal problems, pain after rehearsals, and the feeling of not understanding whether and how anything can change at all.

Only after my studies did I begin to find ways that actually worked for me. Meeting people who think the voice consistently from the body fundamentally changed my understanding. Step by step I worked my way back to an access that is sustainable today – and that is guided not by external expectations, but by concrete experience.

This development shapes my work to this day.

I work with people who want to take possession of their voice (again) – as well as with singers looking for more differentiation, freedom and presence. It matters to me not only to say how something should sound, but to show ways that are comprehensible and can be experienced in your own body.

At the same time I am driven by the wish to truly understand the voice. That is why I keep training and keep re-examining my own work.

My love and devotion to music has never broken off, despite all the detours. To this day it is the place I keep returning to.
